DESCRIPTION

Linux is the most popular operating system in the cloud. Various Linux flavors are used by our customers for their most mission critical applications. Linux Partner Solution Architects enable our strategic partners to deliver customer success. Partnering with customer facing service teams you will work strategically on technical integrations and roadmaps.

As a Sr. Partner Solution Architect you are as comfortable white boarding complex software architectures with a roomful of engineers and product managers as you are briefing executive level customer and internal audiences. You will get the opportunity to work closely with a wide array of AWS product & service teams and strategic partners to dive deeper on product roadmaps.

You will also have the opportunity to write blogs, whitepapers and reference architectures, deliver webinars, speak at events and file patents for what could potentially be future AWS products or features. You will get the opportunity to work directly with senior engineers with customers, partners, and AWS service teams.

You should be a technical domain expert and have experience with open source and the Linux OS both as a philosophy and commercial implementation.

Experience working directly with customers is required, and prior experience working with partner solutions is a plus.

This position can be based in Seattle, Irvine, Dallas, Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, San Francisco, Herndon, Houston, Boston, or New York.

Up to 30% domestic travel is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
· An advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics is preferred
· A solid understanding of the makeup of a modern GNU/Linux distribution and lifecycle, Debian or Ubuntu preferred
· Understanding of processor architectures such as amd64/x86-64, arm32/64, and binary representation (endianness) of various processor architectures
· Experience using container orchistrators (kubernetes, ECS, etc.), virtualization (LXD/LXC/libvirt/QEMU/KVM/Xen), and devops
· Container packaging (snapd, docker, etc) experience
· Troubleshooting skills in multiple popular languages, e.g. Python, Bash, Golang, C, etc., and able to understand Debian based OS bugs and give advice on next steps
· Knowledge of Juju, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, CloudFormation, or Terraform for configuration management
· Strong practical Linux, storage, middle-ware, and container systems administration skills in the cloud
· Knowledge of IP networking at scale, firewall and VPN architectures, DNS, and service delivery through load balancing techniques
· Understanding of messaging architectures (SOA, REST, DBus, etc.)
· Have worked with hardware and software QA and certification teams to validate solutions
· Be passionate about Open Source, especially Ubuntu or Debian
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 5+ years customer-facing experience interfacing with senior technical roles at large companies managing workloads on Debian based systems in a distributed environment
· Proven background in cloud industry as a developer or development manager working with end user and open source developer communities
· Hands-on experience administering Debian based systems for personal or professional use
· Debian packaging and container build experience
· Familiarity with kernel release processes and cadence (upstream and vendor SRU/backports)
· Experience using source code tools and repositories (git, Launchpad, etc.)
· Experience working with support to resolve complex customer problems related to console and graphical users, packaging, cloud images, and containers.
· BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
