Engineering Operations Technician - Mechanical Team

DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a Data Center Operations Mechanical Technician to serve as a technical resource within our mission critical Data Center. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability in all mechanical plant within our mission critical Data Centers. The successful candidates will be expected to have direct and immediate impact on improving the resiliency, efficiency and capacities of our facilities to help offer Amazon’ customers better value.

Tasks:
· Assisting in the operation, and maintenance of all, mechanical, Electrical and HVAC equipment within the Data Center/Facility.
· This equipment supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
· Develop work plan for emergency repair of critical assets.
· Troubleshooting of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems,
· Operates under minimal supervision.
· Create and close Work Orders with appropriate data, to include labor hours, equipment maintenance, and parts used into asset management system
· Maintain changes in state in Mission Critical infrastructure in support of corrective/ preventive maintenance
· Testing: Test quality, performance, safety, and reliability of products, equipment, processes
· To be a front line responder for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, AHU’s, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems.

· Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
· An aptitude for trouble-shooting and problem-solving complex issue
· An ability to follow procedures system documentation and track issues through appropriate entries into a Trouble Ticket system.
· Demonstrate good judgment and instincts in decision making.
· Prioritize appropriately in a complex, fast-paced environment.
· Willingness to take ownership for technical issues.
· Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- NFQ Level6/7 in an applicable engineering discipline
- Working knowledge of generic mechanical-room infrastructure such as chillers, Cooler Units, and fan controls.
- · Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload
- Working knowledge of backup generator systems, HVAC experience

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 4+ years of relevant work experience.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work independently
· Proven self-starter.
· Demonstrate key electrical competencies and theory.
· Know and apply safe electrical practice according to guidelines set by relevant electrical safety supervisory bodies (e.g. ECSSAI and RECI in Ireland)
· Have a basic working knowledge of the purpose and basic infrastructure of a Data Centre.
· Competent in use of basic IT programs such as MS Word/Excel or similar.
