DESCRIPTION

As a Business Intelligence Engineer in the Amazon Marketplace team, you will support our goal to be the most customer-centric company on Earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright and driven people.

You have a passion for using data in order to drive business decisions. You are keen to improve current reporting solutions or innovate by creating new and simpler ones and provide Finance and the Marketplace business with robust insight. You are a self-starter who thrives at analyzing and modelling very large data sets. You are curious about diving below the surface to identify the root cause and the “so what” rather than just superficial trends. You are eager to participate in international cross-functional projects that will directly influence the commercial performance of the business.

Responsibilities include:
· Analyze current and historic business performance ahead of local reviews, provide effective and data-driven challenges to the commercial and finance teams
· Improve and automate reporting for local and international teams, and create new innovative and insightful reports in a timely manner
· Collaborate with international/European BI teams to drive cross-functional projects (limited travel involved)
· Support Marketplace Leadership with ad-hoc data requests, analytical needs, projects and deliver advanced SQL support and training

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Team player with the ability to collaborate in a diverse team including other geographic locations and cultures
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related field
· Practical experience in data analysis such as data warehousing, regression modelling, forecasting, data mining
· Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, Redshift, EMR, Athena, etc.
· Experience with Machine Learning

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related field
· Knowledge of at least one programming language (Python, R, Java, C++, Haskell or similar)
· Experience in Microsoft Excel and querying data sets using SQL
· Fluency in written and spoken English
