DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to help invent the future of everyday grocery shopping with Alexa. Our team enables shopping in everyday life by making it easy for customers. Whether it is to capture what customers need in the moment by adding items to their Alexa Shopping List, help them build their carts with Whole Foods Market, or just buy some more aluminum foil, Alexa is there to help save time and money. Our services allow customers to shop, anywhere, easily without interrupting what you’re doing – to go from “Alexa, buy bananas” to “It’s on the way” in a matter of seconds. Join us, and be a key member of the new and exciting Alexa Shopping Grocery analytics team.

The analytics team’s success depends on our ability to create actionable insight from the data that that our customers generate. A BIE in our team requires the ability to dive deep into large amounts of data, have good business intuition, curiosity and a grit to deal with ambiguity, and the desire to influence strategic decisions with data-driven analysis and insights. Working with the business teams and collaborating with key stakeholders across the company, you will have the opportunity to design and implement features to enhance the experience of your customers. As a BIE in the Alexa Shopping team you will focus on exciting and challenging problems, including:

· Identify, develop, manage, and execute analyses to uncover areas of opportunity and present written business recommendations that will shape the future of Alexa Shopping.

· Report key insight trends, using statistical rigor to simplify and inform the larger team of noteworthy story lines that impact the business.

· Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon’s data resources and know how, when, and which to use.
·
· Build automated data solutions and dashboards to enable your team to self-service 80% of data needs, allowing you to focus on answering hard and ambiguous problems.

· Scope, build and own technical data warehouse processes to help the business scale.
·
· Collaborate with software engineering, product management, marketing and UX as a leader of quantitative analysis and where you develop solutions that utilize the highest standards of analytical rigor and data integrity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Data Science or a related discipline.

· Familiarity with AWS solutions such as S3 and Redshift.

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or a related discipline.
·
· 3+ years of years of relevant work experience in business intelligence, analytics, data engineering, or related field.
·
· Proven track record of crystalizing out impactful and actionable insight from big data.
·
· Highly proficient using ETL manager to write and optimize SQL queries in an ambiguous business environment.
·
· Proficient in processing dirty, large, multi-dimensional datasets from multiple sources.
·
· Proficient using at least one data visualization product (Tableau, Looker, Amazon QuickSight, etc.)
·
· Knowledge of data mining and working knowledge of at least one Statistical Software (SAS, R, Python, etc.)
·
· Excellent written and verbal communications across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
