We are looking for a dynamic, organized, and customer-focused Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) who is interested in guiding key business decisions for one of Amazon’s key business verticals, Kindle Content. We need your passion, innovative ideas, and creativity to help us continue to deliver on our ambitious goals.

The BIE will be a key member of the Kindle Content Non Fiction team, which is working to evolve the way we look at the Kindle business. The BIE will coordinate with Kindle content Analytics teams and interact with economists, ML scientists, business analysts and business intelligence engineers. This role will report into the Nonfiction arm of the Kindle Content, and is based in Seattle, WA.

This role requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities, knowledge of business intelligence solutions, as well as outstanding business acumen and the ability to work with quantitative and business teams. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and driven by a desire to innovate in this space.

The BIE will demonstrate high judgement and business experience, be able to identify and recommend data-driven solutions and collaborate with other analytics and business team members to define the optimal marketing metrics and reporting and take ownership to drive delivery. You will have a passion to dive deep, a high level of customer focus and a track record in process improvement. The analyst will have technical skills, project management skills and the ability to multi-task and thrive in an energizing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design, architect, implement, and support key datasets that provide structured and timely access to actionable business information with the needs of the end customer always in view.Retrieve and analyze data using SQL, Excel, and other data management systems.
· Continuously evaluate and implement process and system improvement opportunities.
· Develop queries that show business trends, identifying opportunities for growth

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience using analytics to influence multiple departments, increasing their productivity and effectiveness to achieve strategic goals.
· Working with functional business leaders to build scalable processes and metrics.
· MBA or Master’s Degree Information Science, Data Science or a related field preferred
· Experience on AWS Big Data technologies, like RedShift, S3, Aurora, Data Pipeline, QuickSight, Kinesis, etc.
· Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
· Ability to attach complex business questions with data and curiosity to dive deep, identifying the root cause and “so what” rather than just the trends.
· Ability to thrive in an environment that is tasked with providing data-driven decision support and business intelligence that is timely, accurate and actionable.
· Ability to think big, understand business strategy, provide consultative business analysis, and leverage technical skills to create insightful, effective BI solutions
· Ability to effective prioritize projects, manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion under tight deadlines
· A self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail and an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
· 2+ years’ experience with Tableau or other similar BI reporting tools, including administration, modeling, and report/dashboard development

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· BA/BS in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related technical/quantitative field
· 3+ years development experience with SQL, creating and managing data tables with large scale data sets and reporting
· Professional experience with Python or R
· Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for complex reporting.
· Experience working with disparate data sources and turning them into a unified solution
