DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking a motivated and data-driven Business Intelligence specialist with strong technical/analytical skills, and a hands-on passion to dive-deep on our processes as they relate to ship cost. As a brand new team our goal is to work cross functionally at Amazon to identify opportunities to improve and optimize our shipping. We do this by focusing on deep diving our internal data and providing insights, projects and recommendations that can drive improvements while also creating savings.

This is a high visibility opportunity to improve and define the best way of doing things throughout the company using the power of your analysis, technical skills and business acumen. You will be responsible for developing accurate and relevant metric-driven analysis to foster continuous improvement and step-function innovation. The successful candidate will be able to retrieve, integrate, and present critical data in a format that is immediately useful to improve the business decision-making process and then drive innovation and savings from these insights. This role requires an individual with excellent analytical abilities including SQL skills as well as an outstanding business acumen. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, who has a strong attention to detail, and enjoys working with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
· Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our business needs while also providing training and support to teams to help them diagnose and address ship cost issues
· Write SQL code to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL, DBs), and learn and understand a broad range of Amazon's data resources and know how, when, and which to use and which not to use
· Partner with operations/business teams to consult, develop and implement projects/product improvements to meet business needs.
· Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
· Use analytical and statistical rigor to solve complex problems and drive business decisions

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or other quantitative field
· Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
· Experience in writing and tuning SQL queries
· Strong analytical abilities and problem solving skills. Ability to work with large, complex data sets and familiarity with statistics or other analytical techniques.
· Be self-driven, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or dirty data.
· Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting.
· Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
