Amazon Search creates powerful, customer-focused search and advertising solutions and technologies. Our Visual Search team creates solutions aimed at helping customers search and discover the world around them via a camera-phone view. We use advanced technologies to leverage our vast catalog of images in ways that dramatically improve the experience of Amazon customers. We tackle complex problems in computer vision, image recognition, machine learning, and large-scale distributed systems.

The Visual Search team is seeking a talented, energetic and self-driven Business Intelligence Engineer to help us develop actionable recommendations from mountains of data.

As a BI Engineer, you will:
· Help our product, design and engineering teams to make data driven decisions by defining metrics and finding actionable insights from our data.
· Build, scale and maintain large scale data pipelines to process log entries daily into our RedShift Analytics cluster.
· Write and tune complex queries using Hive/SQL/Spark.
· Explore available technologies and design custom solutions to improve our data quality, workflow and job manageability and scalability; leverage cutting-edge tools and technology to continuously improve our data analytics infrastructure and reporting capability.
· Troubleshoot data issues and build customized reports to investigate key business questions.
· Write, share and present documents summarizing your findings and recommendations effectively, to individuals at various levels in the organization.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree, preferably in an analytical field - e.g. Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Finance.
· At least 2 years of experience with Hive/Hadoop or Spark.
· At least 3 years of experience with SQL and RDBMS.
· At least 3 years of experience analyzing real datasets in order to solve practical problems and presenting the results, either in a data driven business environment or a graduate program.
