The AWS Inception Business Development team is looking for a talented , driven, self-directed Business Analyst to join an organization that is responsible for driving expansion of the AWS platform into new market sectors (e.g. Call Centers, Robotics, Space) with the launch of new services around the world. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in a fast growing business, and to provide significant value for non-traditional AWS customers across the world. Specifically, this role will include defining, building and scaling metrics and analytical insights that will measure the success and drive the day-to-day behavior for the AWS Inception BD team. In addition this role will take the lead in innovating how we leverage data to provide business insights. You will work closely with members of the BD and Analytics teams to ensure we are capturing and surfacing the best data and information to make optimal business decisions. You’ll collaborate with engineers to build self-service reports and establish automated processes for large scale data analyses. Successful candidates will be analytical with business acumen, and detail driven with excellent problem solving skills.

The ideal candidate will have a rock-solid background in data analysis, including experience extracting and manipulating data using SQL, leveraging advanced Excel features for data analysis, and producing digestible business intelligence and actionable information. The candidate should also have strong communication and project management skills, enabling them to work with key business stakeholders to understand requirements and shape analytical deliverables. He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to work cross-organizationally. A keen sense of ownership, drive, and scrappiness is a must.

Job Description
· Work with business stakeholders in order to identify/distill a problem to understand objectives and prioritize solutions
· Work with Data Engineers to extract, transform and load data in order to solve a business problem.
· Work on creating Docs/ UI and reporting the analysis back in a format that can be assimilated by a business user (e.g. Tableau Dashboards/ Excel Dump)
· Define data collection and reporting mechanisms architecture; own development and maintenance of an operational KPI dashboard and reports

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Masters in a quantitative field
· Working knowledge of Statistics, A/B Testing
· Excellent problem-solving skills
· Excited to learn new technologies and analytical methodologies relating to business intelligence and data analysis
· Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to translate ambiguous business requirements into complex analyses and actionable insights
· Working knowledge of predictive analytics and anomaly detection algorithms
· Passion for process improvement
· Experience working with cross-functional teams and end-customers to define requirements and reporting needs
· Experience using AWS analytical services (e.g., Redshift, S3, Lambda, QuickSight)
· Experience with Salesforce Platform
· Experience or familiarity with AWS service catalogue
· Understanding of Sales lifecycle and objects in the Salesforce Platform

This position must be located at one of our U.S. AWS Corp. offices with a preference for Seattle.

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

·
· Bachelors in a quantitative field (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or related field)
· 4+ years of relevant professional experience as a Business Analyst, BI Program Manager or related role (working with data modeling and “Big Data”)
· 3+ years of advanced proficiency in Excel (including Pivot Tables, dynamic dashboards, array functions, Power Pivots, VBA, etc.) to run ad-hoc analysis and automate manual steps, if any
· 3+ years of experience using data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Quicksight)
· 2+ years proficiency in SQL (Joins, queries, case statements) and manipulating large data sets in a database
· Experience with Python or other scripting languages (e.g. Ruby, Java) in order to automate the manual efforts between different tools
