Alexa is the Amazon cloud service powering the Echo family of devices. We believe voice is the most natural user interface for interacting with technology across many domains, and customers love the convenience of Alexa in their daily lives.

Ours is a brand new Alexa team, seeking an Applied Scientist to design and implement Natural Language Understanding (NLU) models to enable new voice-driven experiences for our customers. Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Mathematics with specialization in speech recognition, natural language processing, or machine learning.
· 3+ years of experience working in machine learning, natural language understanding, or related discipline.
· Hands-on experience in predictive modeling and analysis.
· Experience with numerical/statistical analysis software such as R, SAS, Stata, or MATLAB) or other domain specific software
· Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as C/C++, Java, or Python.
· Understanding of foundational statistics concepts, NLU and ML algorithms: linear/logistic regression, random forest, boosting, neural networks, decision trees, LVQ, SVM, etc.
· Understanding of Computer Science fundamentals of data structures, object-oriented design, algorithm design, and complexity analysis.
