We are looking for a Release Engineer to work on our world leading airline passenger servicing system - a system that provides check-in and boarding services to over 130 airlines and 800 million airline passengers each year.

The role is based in our quality and releasing team at our London Heathrow development center. You will be part of a cross-functional department that includes front-end and back-end software engineers and system release managers.

The role will involve a range of day-to-day responsibilities. Primarily this includes the efficient releasing of our system onto our test platforms, follow-up of releasing and test-system stability problems, plus some occasional Quality Assurance tasks too.

You will:

· Co-ordinate and drive weekly test release activities, collaborating with software engineering groups, business analysts and quality engineers in four locations and time zones to release all components of the system: server and UI.
· Manage the creation, gate keeping and implementation of test releases.
· Own and improve the test release cycle and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains.
· Own, co-ordinate and drive the test-system problem analysis process, working with software engineers and system operators to identify the root causes of test system incidents and co-ordinate solutions to prevent re-occurrence. You will be the main point of contact between our division and the Amadeus central test-system support teams. You will coordinate and drive the quality and stability of our system on test.
· Provide Management reporting of test load efficiency and problem backlog.
· Support and execute production release activities as requested by the line manager.
· Execute a small number of quarterly QA brush tests to assure the quality of the departure control system before it is released into production when requested.

Requirements

This really is a hybrid role - mainly release management, but with some test system and QA aspects too.

We are interested in people who can demonstrate some (but not all) of the following:

· Release management of a large, complex software system. ITIL certification would be useful but not essential.
· Excellent interpersonal and persuasion skills – you will work with operations and development teams on a daily basis. Many of our release processes are manual and require the gatekeeping, co-ordination and driving of release processes for teams in many locations.
· Some basic knowledge and experience with running Linux scripts to trigger releasing jobs, or triggering (but not administering) Jenkins jobs would be useful but not essential.
· Test system management and test system data management.
· QA activities – manual testing, bug tracking, test automation would be a bonus
· Version control systems like Mercurial or Git.
· Atlassian products: Confluence, BitBucket

Our diversity commitment: equality, diversity and inclusion are part of who we are. We’re committed to equal opportunities and treatment regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, beliefs, sexual orientation or disability.

Make every future a success.
