Business Environment

Amadeus provides added value products and solutions to travel agencies, corporations, airlines and other travel businesses worldwide .

In this context, the Digital For Airlines (AIR-DGA) division is in charge of the web applications which are part of the Amadeus Airline IT portfolio.

Amongst other products, DGA provides the e-commerce platforms for airlines: Amadeus e-Retail Engine and the front office for airline dedicated to professional: Amadeus Reservation Desktop

Amadeus e-Retail (AeRE) is the world's most widely used integrated airline Internet Booking Engine and supports all types of travel reservation (flights, cars, hotels, insurance and ancillary services).

The e-Retail Prod Support and Implementation group’s responsibility is to ensure production long-term stability and availability for Amadeus e-Retail Engine online products. The main group activities are:

•Configuration management for all platforms

•Support of the Production Environments for e-Retail Engine lines of products

•Support of the Customer facing test environments

•Prepare the implementation of new customer projects and/or new product projects

•Prepare documentation and perform hand overs to Amadeus Data Processing Application Management teams

•Review functional Change requests on the design of applications

•Review application release Change requests and their impacts on production platforms

It should be noted that those activities span across both windows farms and Linus/OpenShift stack as we are migrating to the applications to Amadeus Cloud Services.

Overall Position objective:

· Ensure availability and stability of Production Environments (e-Retail Engine lines of products).
· Provide support on Production Environments and technologies to other teams (DEV, stress tests…)
· Act as the liaison between Development and SRE teams.
· Investigate incident’s root causes
· Provide solutions to improve resilience.
· Support the coordination processes.
· Provide expertise on architecture solutions and guidelines for Non-Functional Requirements (in particular operability & stability).
· Participate to the e-Retail migration from the current infrastructure to Amadeus Cloud Services (Praxis project) : architecture , operability, DevOps tooling etc…

Main Position Activities

Global Overview of products

•The team is required to have a good global overview of all the products that it handles in order to understand the message flows, future evolution and server/traffic needs. This view is both technical and functional and is also important in order to help development make the right architectural decisions so that the products can be successfully launched into production and operated in the future.

•When necessary, liaise with TPE-SRE for new project s/ products. Includes the operational architecture, monitoring expectations, message flows and traffic expectations etc.

Regular Activities

•Coordination: Involves the management of the regular loads and extraordinary loads such as Priority A. Packaging, script writing, follow up, sign offs and troubleshooting for all releases supplied by development for load to the servers.

•Troubleshooting: Investigation and resolution of incidents linked to the operational environments.

•Monitoring to proactively react to possible problems.

•Production support: to ensure follow up and treatment of all problems related to the production environment. Involves troubleshooting, problem investigation and support to development. Ensure coordination of the recoveries between SRE and DEV

Special Projects

•Amadeus will often accept new development as special projects, which could involve new connectivity, architecture or traffic models. The applicant will be assigned special projects for which he needs to technically co-ordinate, implement and manage the project to be sure that the systems arrive in production on time with a robust architecture and are operable once there.

•Migrations to newer versions of operating systems, new hardware, new technical infrastructure are also handled by the team as special projects.

Operability : propose solutions to improve the resilience of the application ( Canary deployment, Chaos engineering etc..).

Minimum Requirement

Education:

· Engineer degree in Computing Science
· Post Graduate degree in related subject is an advantage
· Proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Technical skills:

· Web servers (Apache)
· Java application servers (WebLogic, JBOSS, Tomcat)
· Windows Server 2008/2012, Linux
· Web applications knowledge (HTML, XML, JSP, Servlets, EJB)
· Internet protocols knowledge (HTTP(S), SOAP/XML)
· Database server (Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2016)
· Project management is an advantage
· OpenShift, Docker and ACS is a plus

· Previous experience in a production server operations environment is mandatory.
