Business environment

Altéa Inventory is one of the first important OBEs that has been built in Amadeus.

Facing the continuous growth of Altéa Inventory – in both functional and commercial areas - implies to constantly design and implement new solutions.

Over time, Altéa Inventory OBEs have grown in complexity and we are now facing the challenge of transforming our platforms into more modular solutions. We need to adapt to a changing game, taking into account requirements from serviceability and cloud.

XTC team is leading and participating in transversal and technical projects in Inventory. In this context, we are most notably tasked with the lead of two major reengineering projects, Internal Peak and componentization of Inventory (part of INV2020). Therefore, roles and responsibilities within the team encompass both project manager and architect aspects.

The architect responsibilities will go beyond the scope of this team, he / she will participate in the whole department software development process and he/she is expected to play an active role in Inventory Architecture Community.

Purpose

The architect acts as a software development engineer with additional responsibilities. He/she defines, drives and maintains software architecture with respect to customer requirements and company’s objectives for a given system or subsystem.

Key accountabilities

On top of software development engineer activities (user requirements definition, technical solution design and coding, testing, software solutions debugging...) the architect :

· Is responsible for software architecture throughout the lifecycle development taking into consideration system constraints and enterprise architecture strategic directions
· Directs and coordinates software architecture studies for their functional area
· Identifies modelling, simulation and prototyping opportunities
· Provides knowledge on state-of-the art software architecture, taking future developments into account
· Articulates the design to the development teams
· Selects appropriate design standards, methods and tools
· Contributes to the architect community, educates, studies options, and recommends evolutions
