The Airbus Zephyr is at the leading edge of technology, the first unmanned aircraft of its kind to fly in the stratosphere. It harnesses the sun’s rays, running exclusively on solar power, filling a capability gap complementary to satellites, UAVs and manned aircraft to provide persistent services.

Our UK Graduate Programme provides the chance to master managerial and technical skills. Over the two year period, it combines rotational placements with focused training and the possibility of European assignments and further personal development and the chance to build your professional network.

You will be assigned to your home department and will be guided through the placement opportunities that exist within your function, the wider business and even with customers and suppliers. The experience you will gain throughout the Graduate Programme, along with the training provided, will ensure you are ready to take the next step of your career following the programme’s conclusion.

As a Zephyr Graduate Solutions Engineer, you will support the Solutions Architecture team with the delivery of very light-weight payloads for the Zephyr series of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) including specification, design, build/manufacture, and integration into the Zephyr platform.

Tasks:

Main activities of the role may include;

·  Translating customer User Requirements into technical solutions.
·  Providing guidance to payload suppliers on the optimal integration solution for a Zephyr platform.
·  Working with customers and suppliers to provide technical summaries on Zephyr platform and payload capabilities.
·  Contributing to the payload development strategy and roadmaps.
·  Ensuring the stakeholders understand payload requirements and capabilities.
·  Working with the other subsystems teams such as power and propulsion to ensure that the best overall solution for the Zephyr system is implemented.
·  Assisting with the delivery of the payload integration onto Zephyr to ensure mission success.
·  Ensuring that Zephyr Product Assurance (PA), design and verification standards are met.
·  Providing Sales and marketing support.

Collaborating with software developers and hardware engineers to identify/resolve anomalous behavior.

You can demonstrate the following;

·  A Degree or equivalent in an engineering/aerospace subject.
·  Familiarity with engineering methodologies for harsh environments.
·  Familiarity with verification and validation processes. (V Diagram)
·  Familiarity with the configuration control tools and code configuration strategies.
·  Technical awareness and ability/familiarity of some of the following payload types:
·  RF communications.
·  Optical and IF surveillance.
·  ESM and Sigint.
·  Data communications.

Your role will involve some travel for business so you will be asked to travel accordingly.

You will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.

You will be based in Farnborough and will receive the full Airbus Defence and Space Graduate programme benefit package including an annual Salary of £27,000, plus a welcome payment of £2,000.
