Description of the job

Airbus is looking for a Wind Tunnel Test Engineer specialized in Aero-Acoustics to join the Wind Tunnel Technology Development department to be based in Toulouse, France.

You will join a team delivering validated Aerodynamic and Aero-Acoustic Data to Airbus internal customers.

As Wind Tunnel Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for performing Aerodynamic and Aero-Acoustic Test Campaigns in Wind Tunnels or Laboratories.

As a specialist in Aero-Acoustics, on top of pure Aerodynamic knowledge, you have a good understanding in the field of Acoustics, on the flying domain or applied to scaled models for wind tunnel testing. You master as well the dedicated model instrumentation in line with aero-acoustic measurements, together with the way to post-process and analyse the raw temporal measurements

Acting as the Lead Engineer of the test campaign, you will be accountable for the aerodynamic or aero-acoustic quality of the results collected from the tunnel measurements. You will be supported in this task by a testing team made of model designer, model rigger, customers, …
You will be the leader of the testing project from the early stage of the preparation phase to the final and successful completion of the test campaign.

Tasks & accountabilities

The principle responsibilities of the role can be summarized as follows:

·  Together with the customer focal point, you will converge first on test objectives.
·  You will technically develop and support the testing project, especially focusing on the aero-acoustic aspects.
·  You are responsible for the project management, committing on planning and budget.
·  You lead the testing team (designer, riggers, ...) covering all project aspects.
·  You are accountable for the good development of the project, securing the project deliverables.
·  You are responsible for the testing documentation (specification, test programme, test memo, lesson learnt, minutes of meetings).
·  You ensure the proper project drumbeat and associated weekly reporting.
·  You perform the test campaign in the selected wind tunnel (often in Europe) acting as the Airbus representative.
·  You are responsible of the proper data definition and storage into the database.
·  You are accountable for the quality of the experimental data delivered to the customers.
·  You will contribute to the innovation & process improvement in close cooperation with the technical expertise network.

Frequent travels (mainly in Europe) with strong links with Airbus internal & external partners

·  Engineering degree with proven experience in Aerodynamics & Aero-acoustics.
·  Good knowledge of Measurement Techniques & Instrumentation.
·  Experience in Aerodynamic Numerical Calculations would a strong asset.
·  Experience working in Flight Test environment.
·  Ability to work with various stakeholders and in a positive project team spirit.
·  Good communication skills and transnational mind-set.
·  Ability to work on several tasks in parallel.
·  Advanced level of English and French.
