Description of the job :
A vacancy for a Development Engineer (f/m/d) Space Science Missions has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Friedrichshafen. The successful applicant will join “TSEAG1 - Science & EO”.

Compensation level: Compensation Level EG15, if job requirements are met // Published until: 21.07.2019

Task & accountabilities :
- Small to medium sized study/project lead and/or system engineering
- Study proposal preparation, lead or major contributions
- Project technical status monitoring and control risk assessment and mitigation
- Administration, schedule- and financial control
- Customer interface
- Working in a team of experts for predevelopments in space mission and instrument disciplines.

- Supervision and lead of small/medium sized projects in the development Laboratory for Enabling Technologies (LET) with focus on quantum optics /laser interferometry devices.
- The laboratory is operated in cooperation with universities and the position includes the supervision of master and doctoral theses.

Required skills :
- Preferably, a PhD in physics, engineering or similar qualification.
- Required: Development experience in quantum optics devices, notably laser metrology, lasers, atomic clocks, related space instrumentation equipment and systems.
- Desirable: Experience in Space mission analysis/simulation, engineering and design on mission level, platform or typical payload level, system performance Analysis
- Experience (PhD, Post-Doc) at Research or Development Centers on topics in the optical/infrared spectral region, ideally for space missions with focus on scientific payloads
- English: fluent, German would be a plus
- Good team interaction and communication skills
- Inter-cultural experience
- Flexibility, persistence and readiness to explore new subjects
