Location: Hamburg
Start: Mid of August/September 2018
Duration: 6 months

Your main task in this internship will be to support us to develop structural modification proposals for fatigue sensitive items of the A330 Neo. The work will involve investigations focused on improvement of crack initiation lives in certain areas of the aircraft. These areas are known and part of the existing maintenance program. The task for the student would be to understand the root cause of low life and device modification concepts that would rectify the issue.

Tasks & accountabilities

The modification proposals would be assessed based on the quality of structural improvement, estimated cost (recurring and non-recurring) and estimated savings on maintenance of the aircrafts. Therefore, each modification concept would have to be studied and developed with these aspects in consideration. The final work has to be summarized in a presentation, highlighting the concepts with their key parameters and selling points.

Required skills

You offer:

·  Enrolled student within Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or similar field of study
·  Basic understanding of aircraft structures
·  Understating of crack initiation and propagation in metallic structures is a must
·  Knowledge of Finite Element Modeling would be helpful
·  English: fluent
·  German would be a plus

You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
