Description of the job

An internship vacancy for an Aircraft Data Scientist in Customer Affairs (Marketing, Sales and Contracts) has arisen within Airbus Commercial Aircraft in Toulouse (Blagnac site).

The “Customer Affairs Innovation & Transformation” team is looking for a Data Scientist to help us build data-driven solutions to some of the technical marketing challenges we face. You will be at the forefront for assessing and use cases definitions, generating analysis from data, communicating insights with the Customer Affairs leadership team and working with several engineering and business teams to deliver proof of business value to innovative business solutions.

You need to be a user of advanced quantitative techniques and data visualization for answering specific business questions, and an excellent person at synthesizing and communicating insights.
The successful candidate will be able to work backwards from business and customer needs, simplify manual processes, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. The candidate will provide visibility into business metrics, support existing initiatives, and also conceive and pitch new ideas based on data that provides a view of new opportunities and the path toward obtaining them.
This 6-month internship will start from january 2020 at the earliest opportunity

Tasks & accountabilities

translating business questions and concerns into specific quantitative questions that can be answered with the available data using sound methodologies (alignment of data scope & business goals).
analyzing and extracting relevant information from the in-service data to build new insights for aircraft performances
data mining, machine learning, and statistical techniques to support business cases

Required skills

Holder of a diploma at Bac+4 or Bac+5 level , you are looking for a 6-month internship to validate your diploma in Master of Science in a quantitative field (e.g. Computer Science, Statistics)or a related discipline.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Hands on experience with statistical analysis, applying various machine learning techniques, predictive modeling and data mining
Experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), or statistical/mathematical software. (e.g. R, Matlab)
Experience articulating business questions and using quantitative techniques to arrive at a solution using available data

Creative, autonomous and result-oriented team player
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Advanced level in english is required
Skills in aerospace, in aircraft performances and in airline revenue management would be a plus
