Description of the job

A vacancy for the ADIRS design office has arisen within Airbus Commercial in Toulouse.

You will join the Air Data & Inertial Reference System team by starting with in Service activities and followed by development of inertial technologies for derivative aircraft.

The ADIRS provides necessary information to the avionic systems and the pilot to navigate and fly the aircraft (altitude, speed, position, heading, aircraft attitude) based on anemometric and inertial measurement.

The system is classified as a critical system with a high safety level.

You are passionate by airlines operations and want to contribute to our Customers' satisfaction? You feel like being at the heart of the action?

You want to discover the AIRBUS navigation systems from inside? You are reactive and customer oriented?

Join the Air Data & Inertial Reference System in-service support team now!

Tasks & accountabilities

The ADIRS ISeR is responsible for in-service support to our External customers (Airlines) & Internal customers (Customer Support, Final Assembly Line (FAL), other systems, Airworthiness, Civil and Military Programs, etc).

These tasks include:
- Liaising with our internal customers to receive, understand and address new support requests.
- Analysing these requests
- Investigating issues using Airbus laboratory test benches, simulators, FAL, test aircraft, etc. as required.
- Where queries are safety/airworthiness related: coordinating investigation & responses with all related stakeholders (Safety,
Certification, Airworthiness, Programs, Experts…).
- Compiling the associated replies to our customers, and capitalising knowledge & lessons learned for re-use on similar new queries.
- Supporting industrial activities e.g. Modifications, service bulletins, option configurations & associated data bases.
- Supporting improvements of operational documents (e.g. Flight Crew Operating Manual)
- Coordinate and manage the associated sub-contracted support team, investigations & deliverables.
- Drive introduction of new methods based on big data techniques to improve ADIRS in-service support activities.

The role thus has a large number of interfaces including major multi-national suppliers, other aircraft system teams, laboratory and flight test teams, civil and military aircraft programs, safety, certification, airworthiness, aircraft programs, etc.

This requires the ability to work and prioritise to strict timescales as part of large transnational teams, flexibility, technical rigour, ability to persuade & influence, and good project management capabilities.

The second step will be the participation to the development of inertial technologies for derivative aircraft.

Our inertial product line strategy is based on:

- New inertial technologies and bricks
- New architectures
- Shared inertial sensors and hybridization algorithms with other systems
- New way of working internally and with our interfaces (other systems, tests, supplier…).

This product line strategy bricks are modular and can be deployed on several targets A320, A350, A220 and R&T projects.

These bricks can bring benefits in term of communalities between programs, performances, costs and will allow an evolution to more autonomous aircraft.

The objectives of the job are:

- To identify the cases (in service event issue, cost reduction, A/C optimization, performance improvement …) where the product line can provide improvement.
- Define, build the feasibility dossier to convince the programs
- Define the requirement of the new products (functions, performances…)
- Contribute to the development of the new product with the supplier
- Deploy all the activities necessary to implement the product line strategy
- Contribute to the deployment of the new way of working (Model based, formal specification, simulation…)

This position is in an innovative, challenging, visible and multicultural environment at the heart of the Airbus systems design office in Toulouse. It offers opportunities to develop your technical & customer interface skills, creativity, team spirit and career within Airbus.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
