An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Building Surveyor to join a public sector organisation based in East London. The role will be working within the property management and capital delivery function which is responsible for the portfolio of assets.

The building surveyor will be responsible for carrying out detailed surveys of the properties that the organisation manages and to provide advice, guidance and insights to the quality of properties they have inspected. The most suitable candidate will be RICS accredited or alternatively hold a degree with a post graduate surveying qualification.

This particular role is mainly, but not exclusively, associated with delivery of works to educational properties. The work will be mainly major maintenance, alterations and refurbishments, small new build and extensions, defect diagnosis and rectification and similar works.

Key duties will include:

·  Providing expert advice and guidance to the organisation on existing and potential new properties and providing advice and recommendations on appropriate courses of action for each of them

·  Survey new buildings being created by the organisation and ensure that they are up to the standard required

·  Investigate building defects and make recommendations to assess and resolve them as appropriate

·  Carry out structural surveys and prepare schedules of condition and dilapidation assessments for defined properties and buildings

·  Undertake feasibility studies and provide estimates, drawings and specification for work which are required

·  Prepare reports and give professional/technical building surveying advice and training for non-technical staff on building related subjects

·  Understand and keep up to date with developments regarding surveying and construction issues and requirements

·  Provide drawings and specifications for a range of major maintenance, refurbishment, alternations, small extensions and new build. Procure the works and carry out full contract administration duties.

·  Act as the expert on building surveying matters
