JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Summary:

  • The AMD Shipping Operations is responsible for all distribution activities associated with the shipment of the Abbott Molecular Division reagents and accessories to customers, affiliates and research facilities. 
  • A subset of these items is classified as dangerous goods (DG) and must be distributed in compliance with DOT and IATA regulations. 
  • The Dangerous Goods Warehouse Coordinator oversees this process and ensures materials are properly shipped as per all transportation regulations. In addition, the Warehouse Coordinator processes internal inventory requests for DG materials, and prepares for road/rail/air/ocean transport for returns to vendor as needed. 
  • Additional guidance will be provided to the receiving team (where appropriate) for proper storage, handling and preservation of materials within the Abbott Molecular warehouses.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Receive material from initiators.
  • Review paperwork and ensures shipping authorization form has been signed by the Director of Quality.
  • Ensures all consent decree material has been properly labeled.
  • Packages material per packing instruction, packaging bill of material and ensures proper labeling.
  • Arranges for transportation of packages with freight forwarders and logistics transship coordinators.
  • Alerts supervisor to any issues needing management attention.
  • Performs inventory transactions to ensure all material is properly accounted for.
  • Follows up with inventory control or planning to resolve issues.
  • Prepares commodities for ocean shipment.
  • Unloads incoming freight from affiliates.

Accountability/Scope:

  • Support customer service level for shipment of materials.
  • Delays would result in downtime.
  • Responsible for complying with hazardous materials shipping regulations ( DOT, IATA, FDA, GMP, CAPA).
  • Failure to comply would result in fines or shut down of the operation.
  • Must ensure all documentation to ship material under the FDA Consent Decree contains the proper signatures and that this material is properly labeled.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Individual must be able to read and understand English, perform basic math calculations.
  • Must have good verbal communication.  
  • Must have knowledge of Distribution operations, IATA and DOT regulations, and inventory transaction system (AMM).
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Must be able to prioritize and coordinate shipping activities.
  • Must have good communication skills.
