JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Software System Engineer with good experience in new product development and maintenance of software for medical Instruments. Displays standard software engineering principles to resolve difficult problems, from conception, design and delivery, selection and adaptation of various engineering techniques, procedures and criteria with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working within a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to produce deliverable products as part of an Agile team
  • Responsible for defining and managing Requirements, document expectations and confirm requirements baseline for new and existing products
  • Understanding point of view of the user (including End User, Marketing, Service, Regulatory, Quality Control, Manufacturing, Service, etc.) and ensuring the stakeholders expectation are addressed throughout the project.
  • Responsible for analyzing scope of the technical problem, defining design and product constraints, defining functional and behavioral expectations in acceptable technical terms, defining the performance requirements for each defined functional and behavioral expectation, and defining technical requirements.
  • Responsible for Identifying risks, analyzing risks for severity of consequences and likelihood of occurrence, preparing for technical risk mitigation, monitoring status of each technical risk, Implementing technical risk mitigation and contingency action plans.
  • Responsible for defining alternative design solutions, analyzing alternative design solutions and selecting best design solution alternative.
  • Supporting the planning and coordination with multiple discipline engineering and maintenance teams to address technical issues
  • Supporting product verification and analyzing product verification outcomes
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

Required Experience, Education, etc.:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar.
  • 8(+) years’ experience in systems, hardware, and software engineering processes for the development of complex systems including System and Software Architecture, System Analysis, System Integration and Test, and Requirements Management
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle and change management process
  • Knowledge of, and experience working in, DOORS or similar requirements management tool
  • Ability to the identify, manage, and mitigate product risk
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle models (e.g. Agile) and program life cycle modes
  • A solid technical background, with at least 10+ years’ experience of design and development in a highly-regulated industry. 
  • Experience in Agile and Lean delivery concepts and methodologies, and a history of successfully applying this knowledge to manage medium sized (5-15 people) technical teams 
  • Experience in cyber security risk assessment activities including threat modeling, vulnerability analysis and analysis of mitigation solutions
  • Experience to conduct cyber security test and evaluation of hardware and/or software designs to verify and validate compliance with defined specifications and requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

Preferred Experience, Education, etc.:

  • Experience in working in Medical Instrument / Medical Device development or controlled, highly-regulated manufacturing environments/companies/industries (e.g. Defense / Aerospace, Aviation, or similar).   
  • Experience in IEC62304 standards.
