JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a high caliber Sr. Production Supervisor to join our team.  This person will work under general supervision and exercises direct daily supervision over the heat sealing, labeling, and packaging teams.  They will be responsible for overseeing the label printing operations and that the department has all packaging supply items available for use when needed.  Enforces compliance with the package and label development process.  Ensures that quality assurance personnel understand priority levels for product review and release.  Coordinates changes to packaging materials and labels.  Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practice to execute process; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.  Stays abreast of and consults on technical advancement as they pertain to labeling and distribution systems.  Promotes the process of continuous quality improvement and risk management, and coordinates solutions for technical and project issues.  Exercises judgment in planning and organizing work; monitors performance and reports status.

Job Duties:

  • Accountable for hiring and retaining a diverse, highly qualified staff and for providing career coaching, growth and personal development.
  • Exercises judgment in planning and organizing work; monitors performance and reports status.
  • Has direct supervisory responsibility for labeling and packaging operations.
  • Trains staff in proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Establishes content of and creates new labels, bills of material and device master records by approving or rejecting requests for changes to existing label designs and packaging.
  • Develops and tracks product schedules.  Establishes and tracks metrics for the labeling and packaging requirements for new and legacy products.
  • Develops short/long strategies to resolve problems/delays in labeling and packaging systems.
  • Coordinates initiatives within the organization to minimize waste in packaging, labeling and associated steps in the packaging workflow process.
  • Manages the training of team members on new or revised packaging related documents and procedures.
  • Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback.  Sets goals which align to department plans and manages the execution of goals through coaching and mentoring.
  • Maintains a safe and professional work environment.
  • Provides input for document changes and process improvements for the Packaging department.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. 
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
  • Equipment: List the type of equipment the incumbent will utilize in this position.
  • Works with standard office equipment such as telephone, cellular phone, fax/copier, and a personal computer with standard office software. 

General Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science, business, or a related field, or equivalent.
  • Typically, a minimum of four years of relevant work experience related to product packaging and labeling.
  • Requires demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results. 
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
