JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Process Development Technician II to work with Process Development and Manufacturing engineers to support manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.

Provides technical support for manufacture of medical devices, assist in the development and optimization of manufacturing processes, setup and program automated/manual process equipment, control production tools, analyze non-conforming product, train production personnel, and perform preventative maintenance activities. Supports initiatives to improve work product and processes, performs typical assignments and solves problems that may have a variety of solutions. Adapts work method to different situations

Impact this role will have on Abbott:

  • Support production line for manufacturing yield improvement goals
  • Provide technical support to production personnel for manual and automated production processes
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment problems. Make appropriate adjustments or repairs.
  • Provide instructional training to production personnel on equipment and processes using proper documentation.
  • Perform engineering tests and process validations. Compile and organize data to support the generation of engineering test and validation reports.
  • Collect and analyze process yield data.
  • Inspect and disposition production parts per required documentation.
  • Responsible for monitoring assigned processes and providing feedback and/or solutions to process issues.
  • Analyze and improve existing manufacturing processes.
  • Facilitate process development decision making using computer skills for design and analysis (SPC, Statistical Analysis)
  • Write and prepare technical reports, qualifications and validations
  • Manage business process compliance through process validation, equipment qualification, document control and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain materials, tools and facilities necessary for production activities.
  • Understand work environment issues such as OSHA regulations, FDA Quality Systems regulations and ISO requirements.
  • Develop new manufacturing and design technologies by staying current in areas of focus.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

  • 2 year technical degree preferred
  • 5+ years technician experience
  • General manufacturing processing knowledge
  • Solid processing equipment troubleshooting and qualification skills required
  • Solid data compilation and analysis skills required
  • Solid problem solving and organization skills required
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel 5%, including internationally.
  • Occasional overtime is possible of this position.

  • 2 year technical degree preferred
  • General manufacturing processing knowledge
  • Solid processing equipment troubleshooting and qualification skills required
  • IQ, OQ, PQ execution, protocol and report writing
  • Solidworks, Microsoft Word, Excel and MiniTab
