In Ireland, Abbott has five business units, represented across eight sites. The Abbott division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.

At Abbott Diabetes Care in Donegal we are going through an expansion as we introduce new technology and equipment to manufacture the Libre Freestyle Sensor which is groundbreaking in the management and care of Diabetes. As part of the expansion we have a requirement for a creative and ambitious Process Team Leader.

The Technician is primarily responsible for the day-to-day demand and preventative maintenance of equipment, ensuring the site delivers safe and effective products that meet customer needs whilst maintaining compliance.

Responsibilities Include

• You will have strong equipment diagnostic and analytical skills so that our site delivers on product quality and production schedule goals.
• Leading and developing a team of Process Operators ensuring our manufacturing schedule is met producing the correct volume requirements and product mix.
• You will ensure conformance with all relevant policies and Abbott procedures, supplying work instructions and operations procedures to ensure we as a site maintain conformance.
• You will complete Performance Excellence Assessments and Development Plans to promote Continuous Improvement.
• You will be involved and accountable for Health and Safety in your area, ensuring we as site conduct business in a manner designed to be protective of human health, safety, and the environment.
• You will oversee and implement process and equipment projects.
• A key area will be the validation of new processes and development of user documentation.
• You will also participate in the management of capital projects from inception to completion.

Education Requirements

• Third level qualification in Engineering/Manufacturing/Science or trade certificate in an Engineering discipline.

Training and Experience

• 3 years experience in a similar environment preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of PLCs, Pneumatics, sensor circuits, and Servo Motors is an advantage.
